I have a "sausage dog" draught excluder you can have. We used it on our previous front door until the dog kept attacking it!
not entirely sure why but that just makes me smile - images of a vicious attack on a draught excluder
(Its been a long day)
In other news, heard from OH that FIL has been to drains specialist and they have said that everything we need for the inspection chamber drive could be supplied for <£100 provided we keep the area at the top flat (drive is sloped) for the best quality stuff. Think we'll be doing that instead of paying anyone else. Ok still need to get some material to fill in around pipes and some concrete for round the top but thats least of my concerns.0 -
That's what i'd do...get the marigolds out! Sure you've got plenty of other things that would better to spend your money on at the moment than "money down the drain"!0

"money down the drain"!
Thats a terrible pun..... but having had a closer look at the area where the cover for the chamber would sit and its relatively flat so wouldn't be a huge problem. So will just need to make builder understand that he's responsible for all the other work but want the window fitted first before we really fall out with him.
Got home tonight and after tea got changed and stuck into the drains. Had to empty out the trench first with a bucket which was pleasant
Anyway I reckon it took me about an hour to put on the adapters and then cut the plastic pipe sections to the right lengths to go into the flexible bend and then hooked the whole lot up. Might not be perfect but its good enough to make sure that the majority of water goes where its meant to.0 -
@spirit - looks great. Are there any pics of the finished bathroom or is it still a work in progress? My memory isn't great at the best of times and the lack of sleep last night just about finished it off completely0

:rotfl:
And the building problems you encountered pale in comparison..........:D
A baby will bring you to your knees quicker than any shonky builder.
Look forward to seeing the finished pics spirit.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Here's what we saw when we arrived at the house yesterday evening.
(click on photos for bigger version)

You can see more detail on this one. The wall at the back is the one that was between the morning room and garage. The new utility will be set back a bit from the front of the house (IYSWIM), and that back wall will be further forward by 60cm, and then there will be a 90cm deep shower room. At least I think that's what's supposed to be happening.

Some of the morning room is still standing. I imagine it will be gone by this evening!

Most of this area looking towards the back garden will be bifold door. (You can just see where the edge of the house was from that plank sticking out from the roof)

'Morning room and side patio'......oh, is that what it is?
Just keep remembering you gotta break the eggs to make the omelette.
Edit: Tomatoes look fantastic btw.......:DHerman - MP for all!0 -
Loving the pics Maggie! I'm looking forward to seeing the progress so keep 'em coming!
I hope you're feeling a bit more positive now that the work has started. Just think of how it will be when it's finished.
I think that builders secretly prefer DEstruction to CONstruction :rotfl: .0
