isnt the first hour free from consultation!!
you think i'm going to pay then when I have a £400 water bill...Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
Fair point! Commission on your savings by negotiating a higher "non-return to sewer allowance" would be far more lucrative for me!!!
But returning to seriousness..I've dug up essex and sussex's own figure is 5% non-return to sewer (so charged 95% of water supply).
See paragraph 128 onwards at https://www.eswater.co.uk/Charges_Scheme_2010.pdf.
Searched the water forum here and there's one quote of "non return to sewer allowance" in the water meter sticky thread. Surprised there isn't more on this as it seems very much like an MSE subject!0 -
Hi all, haven't posted for an absolute age but I do try to keep a check of peoples progress.
(Congrats to Latecomer on the arrival of your baby)
Sorry to jump in with a fresh question, We are currently living in Cyprus on a posting so not actually doing any renovating at the moment, but we have a bungalow in the UK, it needs lots of tlc, windows, heating, carpets... it is a shell. We have been thinking lots about what we can do with it when we come back.
we have a particular problem, in the hallway we have 2 curved corners. We had started putting in lovely 6", thick skirting before we ended up out here but as yet have not done these corners. I just wondered if anyone had had any experience steaming skirting into a curve or any ideas?
would a timber yard be able to do this for us if we gave then the old small skirting as a template? r do we try and get the pieces carved out?
we would only need to get the curve itself shaped and then we can join it to straight pieces on the wall. (hope this is clear and not too confusing)!

Hi guys, oooh it's gone quiet on here again.
For those interested in the garden makeover, the hard landscaping is now finished. We've still got lots to do to re-stock the now-wider-in-parts border and hopefully rescue some of the plants that didn't like being messed with. There's a post on my house blog and the same post on my garden blog. We were hoping to do a bit more today but it's blowing a gale and raining, looks set in for the day too.
The pillar caps were done the way we wanted, all have the same overhang and you can see the difference in sizes but we think it's much nicer than what they originally did. I wonder why we never noticed the different sizes before? Probably because the rest of the garden was so awful :rotfl: . Anyway, there will probably be pots on them in the summer so they wont be noticeable.
How's the hall going Andy?0 -
What a change TM...huge improvement.
I'm varnishing doors today...do you remember the varnish v's Osmo thread from ages ago? Well that's still the same doors from then. I do procrastinate far too much.:D

:D
We used Ronseal Diamond clear varnish for our oak and it looks fanastic. Needs another couple of coats though and the downside is that its expensive. Really should have got some trade varnish before we started but once we had started we wanted to stick to the same varnishn all round.
Must get some more pics on the blog.0 -
Well after a huge confab between Howdens, the Osmo peeps and the Sikkens peeps, I ended up with Sikkens Cetol which I believe is classed as a woodstain but acts as a varnish.
Needless to say I couldn't get it up here so I had to order online...almost £50 a tin inc postage.Herman - MP for all!0
