  • Hey all,
Wow, production time Lisa. I love those doors - how comes they were so cheap instore? Ow now you made me want to sand down our stairs hmmmm might think about that.

Thinking about you both this week TomsMom. Think positively ... I reckon it works wonders :)

Our bathroom has almost finished with the tiling. One more walls and some tricky bits round the window to do. Then we have to seal, then grout, then seal again. Then the difficult bit as we have to do all of the plumbing and apply for permission for this from the council grrrrr
  • Lisa, love your doors, very modern looking.

We have a similar-ish one for the kitchen (with the glass in).

TomsMom, I'll be thinking of you and TomsDad this week. Best wishes to you both.

Goodluck to TD! Ill be thinking of you both all week and keeping everything crossed. With all the positive vibes coming from the renovating gang he'll sail through no problems!

Ive just had a look at that oil and it looks much better then what we have got! Im really scared of ruining them buy putting the wrong stain on!
Where did you get yours from? Id like to see what the colours are like but dont have a stockist near by and the samples are £3.99 + vat eek!

I love real wood too! It makes the hallway look so much warmer and its such a crime to cover such a lovely thing in millions of layers of paint!

jamtart6 - Thanks! Ill have to have a look at what colour it is. I know it was a crown one and possibly one of the period colours but Ill check the tin to be sure! Im really pleased with the colour, Stuart chose it too, I cant even take the credit.

Looking forward to seeing some piccys now youve found your camera! Also Ill race you to finish painting ha ha!

KT1985 - Hope everything goes well with your scan! Are you going to find out which flavour you are having? :D

jimbugalee - Thanks for the nice comments! Im not sure why they were cheaper instore but I was glad they were. It must have been a promotion, it may still be on!

I wont lie and say the sanding wasnt really really hard work but it was worth it! Im looking forward to seeing more piccys of your bathroom!

helping_hubby - Thanks! I loved the ones with glass in cos they still let the light through but are obscured so it still keeps it private! Im really pleased with how its all coming together!

Right off to Tesco to buy some lunch

Thanks Lisa. He got picked up just before 10am, must admit to a bit of a blub when kissing him goodbye, I really tried not to 'cos I know then he'd worry about me. He'll be over half way there at the moment, probably stopped on the motorway for a cuppa with the driver. Not long till Friday when I can get down to see him.

I think we ended it up buying it locally but did all our research on the net. One place did send us a small sample FOC. OH phoned up to ask questions about it, which was the right one for the situation etc., and just asked "Any chance of a small sample so I can make sure I choose the right one before committing my money" sort of thing. I think it might be have been the people in this link but not 100% sure. The link is to the coloured waxes which might be what you are after. Seems as though you just use it the same as the one we had. Their other products can be seen on that site by clicking the link to Wood Floor Oils and Lacquers.

If it wasn't that link that sent us a free sample it was this one. Worth a phone call anyway.

Hope you enjoyed your lunch, I'm off to get something now and I think I'll watch 60 minute makeover while I'm eating it although I tend to pick flies with a lot of what they do and shout at the TV "Well cover the new carpet up before you paint, jerk!"

    Hi everyone!

I'm stuck at home with a rotten cold (man flu says the OH!) so thought I'd take the time to get caught up with the thread and update the blog.

@TM - Hope everything goes well with TD. Thinking about you both.

@lisa - its looking great. Absolutely love the staircase, certainly worth the effort IMO. I have no idea what a nice wooden staircase costs but I suspect we'll find out soon when we pick one for our house. Like the look of the Next range but I wasn't impressed with the quality when we looked at it in store. I'd certainly want to see if before buying anything from them.

@maggie - sorry to hear abuot the house but to be honest its probably a good thing as you dont know what they would have tried to do next. I like the sound of the house with the big garden that needs a lot of work ;)

@igdam - welcome to the world of house renovations. Feel free to join in and post plenty. Blogs are pretty much compulsory too. :rotfl:

@andyb - when is the big day?

@KT - congrats again. glad everything is going well.

Our builders are getting on well. They have started putting up the outer walls and have dropped the level right down for the garage. The architect was out last week to check on things and he was happy with everything.

We've just had the second delivery of blocks so I'm guessing we are going to start going rapidly upwards in the near future.

Our new boiler has been ordered earlier than planned as it was on offer. Seems like we shouldn't need to be without heating or hot water at all which would be great (originally we thought it could be about 6 weeks!). I've had to rush along to the bank this morning to get cash to pay for the boiler and pipework as there is some problem with the plumbers merchants. the head guy isn't on site today but one of the others was surprised about it as he was given a cheque to pay for the boiler etc. Anyway I've been promised an invoice from the builder so its all official.

Big update to the blog with lots of photos :D

Great update Latecomer. You both must be excited that you can now see it taking shape. Good that your neighbours are so obliging too.

:p I'm stamping my feet here, I wanna know if it's pink or blue. How exciting to have a lovely picture though, scans weren't done when my two were born (does that make me sound ancient :D ). Ooh, just thought. You could decorate your nursery in appropriate colours, put in on your blog (can't remember if you have one though) and we could all find out that way :rotfl: .

I haven't had anything really to put on my blog lately. I think I'll go around and take some photos and do an entry of befores and afters.
