:( sorry to hear about TomsDad :( poor thing I feel so bad for both of you :( will keep everything crossed for you both. off to read your blog :)

wow just read it! the paint and veggies look great and hope Bradley is also better soon! I like those wardrobes you have looked at. Our corner wardrobe was quoted at £2800 which I was kind of expecting but part of me wonders if we could do it cheaper? It needs end panels, so isn't just 2 straightforward doors otherwise I might have ordered them elsewhere and got a joiner to fit them. Ho hum... Great update TM!

Hopefully it will stay that shiny for while as it uses Grohe's StarLight technology. Limescale is what is likely to mess it up - at the momemt we are wiping it over after every shower though i expect in time we will get lazier!

The tap in that picture on the website looks exactly like our taps, but ours are not all shiny and sparkly... Have no idea what make of tap it is - bought cheap from Rapid Hardware probably. ;) Though we did get some stuff from a local bathroom stuff place, so might have been from there.

Will deffo watch out for the StarLight technology stuff when we do the en suite!

There is a useful website about interior design / decoration that might be handy toward the end of your project, its called mydeco, and allows you to create custom 'mood boards' etc to get the creative juices flowing!

    Hi Maggie,

I dont know if this would interest you, but there are new planning laws that came in last year that allow you to extend the loft to create more space without having to apply for planning permission.

The permitted development rules allow you to do things such as converting from a hipped roof to a gable end roof, increasing the cubic metre volume in proportion to the type of dwelling, adding dormer windows at the rear (and possibly velux windows to the front of the property depending on area sensitivity) all without the previous planning wait (and council fees!).

This might help you have a much brighter, larger space up there!

I had gathered that to a certain extent from looking at other threads on the Forums. OH was looking at the gov planning portion yesterday, and thinks we prob won't need planning permission. There hasn't been a planning application for the road in the last 10 years!

Certainly didn't realise that it was possible to convert from hipped to gable end roof without... But suspect the neighbours might object to that. (though some in the road have that already) We'll have better ideas when the dust of making an offer and trying to sort out the finances has settled a bit. ;)

The kitchen is attached to the back of the garage, we might want to look at extending that out further to the back.

OH has been back today and measured the rooms so we can do a better floor plan which also should help get the creative juices and thoughts and wishes flowing! I foresee a lot of arguments over the next weeks - he wants to design the kitchen as he does most of the cooking. I'm not too sure about that! ;) Though admittedly he does do most of the cooking.

Might be nice to have a second living room up there. Apparently next door (who already have a dormer in the back) can see Moel Famau and the Mersey from their upstairs.

So many thanks for your suggestion - I had just rather assumed converting to a gable end would be a big no no.

Best wishes from very changeable Liverpool (plants well watered today without us having to do a thing!)

    Hi everyone
sorry for my absence but things have been a bit busy since we completed 2 weeks ago on our bungalow :j it was a complete tip, we've filled 2 skips and there's still a bit of rubbish left to get rid of.

We're not moving in straight away, needs a lot of work doing to it, and at the moment there is no kitchen, that was the first thing we ripped out! The blog is in its very early stages, not quite ready to make it available though ...

But we've now got some much grander plans than we originally thought to do! Have had some builders round, and are now waiting for quotes, but in the meantime I need to draw up some proper floorplans, have done a very crude pencil drawing but my technical drawing skills are zilch!

I remember a while back when I was reading through this thread, that someone put a link to a website with some free software for creating room plans. Without trawling my way back through all the messages, can anyone remember the link to it? I'm not sure if it was something to do with google?

Thanks Canucklehead, will give it a try later ;)

TomsMum - will pull my finger out and get it sorted!

Have just called the gas board as we want to get the meter moved from what was the kitchen to outside, not looking forward to finding out how much that will cost!

Hi guys, I know I don't visit as often anymore, but thought I'd pass on my latest achievement...

Was looking for a light blue plant pot, couldn't find one, so we bought spray paint and white plant pots (not shiny, but a more matt type finish - which I thought would be better). Sprayed them and they look great :)

Only I'm now thinking the green leaves don't really go with the blue, but I don't care, I love the blue :)
