Help with Kenya Holiday

Hi, I am trying to get a cheap last minute holiday to Kenya. I have found a cheap flight but no success with any hotels. A lot of the "normal" websites don't do kenya and the ones that do are very expensive.

Any help getting a cheap hotel near a beach would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tony

how much are your flights ?
ASC have 14 nights at the 5 shield flamingo beach hotel for £599 .(don't know anything about this hotel , try tripadvisor)

although not listed through ASC i can highly recommend the Indian Ocean Beach Club.

when are you looking to go ? have you had your jabs ?

  • As said above African Safari Club have some great prices at the minute for late bookings. My family travel with ASC every year and always stay at the Flamingo Beach Hotel. Great hotel, would recommend it.

Have you changed your mind about Kerala?

First Choice often have some very good last minute deals to Kenya, I have seen them fairly recently for as little as £380pp for 14AI 4*.

Where in Kenya are you going?

Your best bet is to get a guide book like the rough guide or lonely planet and ring the hotels/hostels/beach houses in it.

    It's a fantastic country.
  • Hi

Thanks for the posts. The cheap flight is with first choice for £310 each and lands in Mombasa. I was thinking about a beach hotel somewhere in that area, if I can find the right price.

    Thanks

Have you double checked First Choice for packages - when I have seen their great deals the packages cost little more than the flights only for the same dates. HTH.

Forget hotels, head south out of the city to Diani Beach or Tiwi.

There are a few cottage developments down there.
We stayed in one and it was fabulous. It was right on the beach. beautiful little cottages. The development next to us had a nice shop, bar and restaurant but ours had much nicer cottages. The one next to us was close enough to use the facilities though. Coral Cove Cottages was I think where we stayed.
Coral Cottages were the one's next door. There are loads of little cottage places like that along there though. They cater to people just showing up on the day and individual groups booking in advance.

You didn't have to do it self catering, most people paid I think it was $5 a day to have someone come in to buy and cook all their food for them. Local fruit sellers and fishermen call past with gorgeous fresh produce for you to buy. I'm sure all the local places have similar arrangements.

Please don't go with first choice. We did a tour that stopped by one of their hotels to pick up people.
It was like being in a Spanish hotel plonked on the Kenyan coast line. At least go somewhere that feels slightly African, even if it has almost all the European conveniences.
