housing benefits the only experience i have had with them is the want nothing ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS photo copys are NOT exeptable:mad:
Hey Mr Skint why the  -
LA must have original documents to prevent fraud as previously was rife. They have to protect public funds and make sure the person claiming is registered at their address and is receiving all relevant docs.
Any problems with obtaining documents then please go to the Local Authority dealing with the claim and may be of help - some of us do understand the real world and know that some things especially backdated and older docs can be hard to get.
If you do not have original bank statements as some people shred and dispose straight away is to get printouts on Banks headed paper with company stamp and that is usually sufficient - some people do not have the £5 plus to gt them reprinted.0 -

i can see what your saying,& thats all very well.but having said that ,the other problem i have encountered is they will pinealise you for late documents such as payslips ,but this can't always be helped, when they arrive late. but yet they still demand you pay them back all the overpayment of housing benefit that has accured due to late doucment arrivals. but its not your falt it was delayed, not are problem say housing benefit ,come COFF UP its our money you got(whos bank account is sooo over whelmed with dosh they don't give a monkeys about those like me who struggle to get by on very little money.& to take the rise out of it they have the cheek to file all out of date benefit information to ones self thats now ereleivant to todays enquiry. makes me sick:mad:0 -

1. Where's this magic bank account full of money? HB is paid for by taxpayers, not from some magic pot of money.
2. Who's fault is it if the documents are not supplied on time? is it the taxpayers fault? Should the tax payer keep claims open indefinitely at significant cost of the recipient doesn't supply documents?0 -
The new system works by how much the government say the household need for rent, not based on what she actually pays.
Where I live for a single person I think it's around £83pw, regardless of how many rooms the property has. For 2 adults it's about £94. 3 adults £105ish.If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0 -
There is a form called Certificate of Earnings (COE) that you can pass to your employer or HR dept and they can complete this instead of providing payslips if they are unavailable.
It is understandable that on some occasions the frustration of having to run around collecting information esp if you are tying to work as well - but it is important to provide what information is asked to have a smooth processing of claim.
Remember Benefit assessors do not normally see the claimant and only goes by what information is seen and cannot continue until all the information is there and has deadlines to keep to.
Unfortunately some assessors rush through claims and write them off too quickly resulting in cancelled claims and having to deal with reconsideration's and appeals which I think just creates more work and can be a real tragedy for the claimant whom has rent to pay and bills to meet. The stories I could tell you where repossesion and court orders has ben recieved because some numpty oversaw information and closed the claim.

it sounds like to me that my issues is my fault. & that regardless of what i try to do i still get over payment. i recent was given an overpayment bill for £400.00 on housing benefit. thats an abasulte disgrace:mad: the fact is they were still paying my benefit while i was awaiting more payslips etc. & sometimes they have to subspend any benefit because of ,& while they do this ,if i don't have the money to pay rent or c/tax i struggle to pay it.0 -

The person claiming a benefit IS responsible for providing the douments required to award it. It's a simple case of the person who wants somehting is the person who has to provide the information to pay it.
What was your £400 overpayment for? You seem to be implying that it arosewhile they were still paying your HB when waiting for you to provide payslips, but then you seem to be saying that it's not fair of they suspend HB while waiting for stuff from you. Seems that they can't win?0 -
