Not sure it will help but I got a last minute holiday a week back for £269 for a week B&B.

Leave Saturday. Suppose if you do the same its cheaper than just buying a flight!

I do not have any particular websites at hand to list here. However, I used the Website and the Travel Agent route last time - and eventually found a cheaper price booking online directly via BA, and saving £50 in the process.

If you follow this route: Firstly, have your preference ready i.e. direct or stop-over? Personally, I prefer a direct route, although I have travelled via Dubai before as a stop-over.

Secondly, the airlines you prefer - e.g. Virgin or BA with the former giving a better choice on entertainment.

The stop-over routes are dominated by Emirates - which has an excellent track record. Then there are others - i.e. connecting flights via Europe offered by Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, KLM or via Middle East - Gulf Air, Royal Jordanian etc. However, I hate Air India with a passion!

The number of routes will be doubled in the next few months, due to the inter-governmental handshakes and relaxation of landing rights etc. Also to consider some newcomers e.g. BMI, Jet Airways - which is also highly regarded in India for domestic flights. However, they do not offer any online booking facility for UK based consumers, yet.

Pl. try some of the local Travel Agents based in Southall, Ealing or Wembley - who specialise in flight only deals, to India. Once you have a guide price - see if you can beat it online. Also, if you want to travel around Easter - book your flights this side of Christmas - as good airlines/routes will get snapped up pretty quick.
