But the issue here is the mains cold water supply...the theory of the hosepipe "trick" is to clear an air-lock in a pipe at lower pressure by pushing it through with water (mains cold) at higher pressure - not the other way round.

It's still happening and I've been wandering round listening.It seems to be either at the top of my pipes in airing cupboard or up in the loft at the watertank itself.I need to look tomorrow in the day light and find a man to help

I seem to have very little cold water coming from my kitchen tap too which is relatively new.I was concerned about the water pressurea few days ago.I live in a rented housing association house so may ring them tomorrow about the lack of water coming out of kitchen tap then when the plumber comes I will explain my banging noise.lost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013
