The bed saga continues...

Some of you may remember the saga with our pine bed that was a wedding present to us, and the posts having splits in them.
Well, on Saturday we went to the shop, but the bed they have offered us a replacement, although similar, just isnt a patch on the one we've got, so we asked for some sort of compensation instead.
The manager rang today and offered us 10% - basically £54 for a bed that cost us £539.
Quite upset about it but cant see what more we can do - I suppose £54 is better than nothing... :-/

that's ridiculous amount0 -
did that last time, they said basically although it was not suitable quality becuase we had had the bed for 2 years (despite the problem being thre from 3 months after we took delivery) basically not a lot I can do.
Must admit, I would have liked at least £100 just for the agro, will phone them now and say husband not really happy with the amount...0 -
Good idea,worth a try anyway :-/0

Told him hubby not happy, was thinking more along the £100 then I played the "this was a wedding presend and I'm really quite upset about it" card and he said he will try and increase as much as possible.
So, a semi-result I suppose... :-/0 -
Let's hope so cause at least nearer £100 would at least give you something but next time anything goes wrong that you buy .....set hubby on them straight away ::) ::)
Good luck0 -
If anything like this happens in future I will just send it straight back!!!0

have a look for something similar from another company, and tell him the details, and that as they cannot give you a like for like replacement, you have found one for them to provide you with yourself.
it's not your fault this has gone on for so long, and you have never been able to enjoy the quality of the furniture since it's flaws started very early on. had they replaced it back then you would have been happy, but they didn't.
their faulty goods
their decision to drag it out at much inconvenience and upset to you
their problem they no longer make them to that standard.
dont forget that whatever compo they offer will probably be in full and final settlement, ie no going back for further repairs, so you will have to shell out for a new one soon anyway!*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***
If I don't reply to you, I haven't looked back at the thread.....PM me0 -
For such a paltry amount I would go to the small claims court for the full amount. Go along to your local County Court and they will help you fill in the form. Only costs about £50 which you will get back if you win.

Got a cheque today for £75, so worth asking for more.
And they sent us some wax so we can repair the cracks ourselves.
At least this is an end to the matter.0
