German phone plug adaptor

We are moving to Germany soon, although not with the army, and we were wondering if we could get converters to use our home phone equipment on the German telephone network?
It seems silly to buy new cordless phones and a router if we could just get a plug adaptor.

Now if i remember you can get an adapter over there (but i'm sure someone who actually lives there will fill you in on that)
However what i do know is that (and i'm not pulling your leg) the german law is very strict on wireless phones as they have to be within a certain Freq (same as baby monitors etc) as they are different to the uk (though your not going to get the polizei banging on your door lol)
i'm not saying you can't use your uk phone over there (wireless one) BUT you may find you start hearing the local Taxi or someones baby monitor etc so just be aware of thatIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Even better, that sounds like a laugh!
However the house is out in the sticks, so we are not likely to have any issues.0 -
when i was based over there it was quite comical as on our baby monitor you could hear people on the phone (where i lived everyone was british) some of the things were....well saucy heheIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

A little village about an hour and a half from Berlin, so the old east Germany, where houses are still cheap. We are looking at buying a small holding and trying to be self sufficent.0 -

Would love to know where, as I am from the 'old east Germany'.
Also, it is cheaper to just buy a phone.
I know someone who "converted" his UK phone to a german phone, but he said, it wasn't worth the hassle, and it also doesn't always work.
good luck
EgonI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -

Most phones these days have a standard plug in lead that plugs into the phone..........you may just need a lead with the german style wall plug end......the phone end plug will be the universal type for all phones....Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0
