Ceasing a supply early with BT.

In May when we moved into our new premises I got BT to switch on the landline that was already installed. This was free. I then agreed to the Anytime call package and the International call package. Our usage over the past 5 months has been approximately 9 calls. As I am able to connect to the Internet via mobile broadband and we mainly use our mobiles to phone, we would like to cease our BT landline altogether but as we are locked into these 12 month packages I am not sure if it can be done. We do not require a landline at all and have no intention of reconnecting at a later date. Do we stand any chance of getting out of this contract without incurring a huge early termination fee?

In brief - no.

They will ask for the remaining line rental and possibly the amount for the selected call package as well.

You could get out of the 12 month BT Line Rental contract by paying a cancellation fee of £70.
However if you took the 12 month rolling contract offers for the anytime call package,and intl call package you will incur an early termination charge on both of them. This charge will be based on the outstanding minimum period of your 12 month contracts.
