I'm a Lloyds shareholder, I've had the shares for over 10 years. I want nothing to do with the clowns at hbos , not that my opinion holds much sway0

Excuse what may seem a stupid question, but I am not too savvy when it comes to these things.
If as a result of the US Congress no vote, the DJ index takes a big hit tonight. We assume the LSE will follow in the morning, but..........
If we assume that the banks that were exposed to both the US sub-prime borrowing and the UK BTL etc. have been exposed and as a result have been nationalised and/or taken over.
If there were no more banks in these difficulties, what are the implications for savers if the stock market takes a massive caning?0
