Zafira oil leak/overflow

The wife jsut came in telling me our Y reg zafira was making a whirring noise. I know nothing about cars so just checked the oil which was almost empty so I poured some in. After that I noticed oil was all over the parts below the oil tank and also all over the floor even though i never spilled any. Is there such a thing as an overflow? Or have I just got a leak somewhere?

well if its low again i would say yoyu have a leak!
i would take it to someone who knows what what, it might be something simple, or might be something potentially fatal!0 -
There is no overflow. For that to happen, something has gone wrong big time.0

if its leaking that fast i would call a mobile mechanic or someone who knows what to look for round, rather than driving it
