Made it to the gym for 7am, did my workout,

went to work (lots of meetings, HUGELY exciting...)

    came back home...

    made chicken casserole
cleared and wiped kitchen table (now have hotspot in the hall - including stuff that needs sorting for Polka's cake-making :o )
laid table properly with mats and everything
tidied living room just in case...
shut all blinds and curtains (don't do this if I'm here on my own)
rinsed beansprouts (I grow them on the windowsill)
Found yogurt mix & put batch on for overnight
Switched on heating (because I had guests and forgot to tell them to bring their arctic gear!)
Emptied TD from am, and put way in (very full) airing cupboard
Emptied gym bag into WM with yesterday's swimming stuff
    Fed & watered 4 friends
Switched heating off... don't expect to use it again until 1st Nov.
    Cleared kitchen after they left
    DW on
Towels from WM to TD, rest on bathroom towel rail
    Cleared and wiped kitchen surfaces
Hoovered spider off spare room ceiling
Washed up saucepans lurking in utility room sink

Toots - you're an inspiration to us all. You have more to contend with than most of us, and you have been a great example to us by getting your head down and dealing with your problems (such as your dining table challenge!). You are a constant and cheerful presence on this thread and as you can tell from people's responses, we miss you when you aren't around.

Hope all those with colds etc. recover soon...

Mudbath - I'm very jealous, even though I know that with my lifestyle a dog is unrealistic, a little bit of me is currently thinking I could manage it ... and then reality kicks in. I leave home before 7am most days, and even when I do get home before 9, I'm quite often still working at this time of night!!!

SM - re the swimming and your wrists. Are you doing breast stroke? If so, you need to check that you're using your hands correctly (its worth doing an adult swim training course if you've never been taught), and also eating bananas or taking mineral supplements to make sure that you don't risk getting cramp (which can make you hold your hands wrongly). I don't know how experienced/strong a swimmer you are so this may not be relevant, but it is important to make sure you do the stroke properly otherwise even swimming can result in injuries.

Pigpen - well done on your college results so far!

Valli - enjoy your 4-day weekend... I don't suppose I'm the only one who's jealous!

Rach - there is no harm in being the person who is prepared to raise issues if you know the support is there, but don't put your neck on the line for people who will walk away and leave you exposed. Also think about the way in which you approach it - if you have a solution to the problem you'll get a much better reception than if you're just highlighting the issue... and if you raise your profile in a positive way, your career will benefit. Keeping your head down and trying not to be noticed won't get you anywhere (I know, I did this for 5 years, got nowhere and was made redundant. I know make an unbelievable nuisance of myself, can get things done, get what I need to get it done, and get the recognition for both myself and my team!)

The meeting up idea sounds great... once plans have been made, if I happen to be able to get a work trip to fit in, then I might well join you if that's OK... but then maybe those of us down south could get together somewhere local sometime?

I really must go to bed, or I'll never make it to my first meeting [strike]tomorrow [/strike] TODAY!!! (I'm not even going to attempt to get to the gym first!). I've just realised that I have to make a decision on who toto appoint to a secondment before the meeting and I have two really good candidates but only one vacancy... and I don't think I can talk any more money out of the finance team this year...

Hope everyone has a productive day, and hope to catch up with you all properly at some point - probably after work.

Hippy - thanks for clarifying that - after Daylight Saving I got myself rather confused and confumbled!!!
    greenbee - you've done heaps!!

I really should be going home - still at work - but I've got the copier running on a huge job, and while things are running well I don't want to stop it

One of the things on the boys list this morning was for them to cook dinner, so we'll see what things are like when I DO go home! I'm very interested to know what we are going to be eating!

    Morning All

Just ironed DD's uniform as it was all creased after she'd slung it around in her drawers!

Just about to get dressed myself, pack-ups done so hopefully we might be ready on time this morning which is good as I've got loads to do when I get into school.

DeniseNZ - hope your dinner was nice.

Hope everyone has a good day

    Hugs to all

Morning all - Good Evening Denise NZ

It's cool in sunny Derbyshire and has rained copiously overnight but potentially a good drying day so the washing has gone on the line and windows have been opened to dry the house out - it's always bad for condensation when the heating first goes on - think I'll leave it (and hour in the morning and longer in the evening usually)
Thanks Hippy for clarifying the time diff for DeniseNZ - I knew they were ahead - because I know how the time zones work - (finally - at my great age) but not by how much (the Millenium was a great help here) - basically we are in vertical time bands which are (almost) straight...
So not only is she facing summer as we face winter she is half a day ahead. Think I'll forget the daylight saving complication and leave it at that.

So now it's time for breakfast and I will plan my day.

    Back shortly.
