help desperately needed as i've tried everything!
we have got tickets for a football match in liverpool on the 17th october. we live in norwich and are happy to travel up there however we can - train, bus, megabus, airplane! whatever works out cheapest.
i realise we may not be able to do it all in a day, and are happy to stay in liverpool overnight/travel down the night before, but can't find ANY budget accommodation with a spare room on the 17th.
help/advice gratefully appreciated - THANK YOU!

The lack of accommodation is probably down to the fact that there is a football match there on that day.;)
There was a thread about hotels in Liverpool about a week ago, may be worth searching. My only advice is don't be tempted to use the Formule1 in Liverpool, no matter how desperate you are. Full details on the thread I mentioned.
When staying in the Merseyside area, as we do sometimes, we tend to use out-of-town Travelodges, usually on their cheap deal. Haydock and Eastham are both fine.0 -
You could look at staying on the Wirral.
Near a train station at Hoylake or West Kirby came up on some of the websites .
There are also buses that go throught the tunnel
Also places at Bromborough from the usual sites.
You could always fit a trip to Tranmere Rovers :-)0 -

Haydock does have rooms for your date, and I am sure you could find coach transport into Liverpool from nearby Ashton in makerfield, failing that you can get the train from Bryn or Garswood stations both approx 2 miles(taxi)direct into Liverpool Lime street.0 -

thanks all!
in the end the cheapest way of doing it seems to be driving to worksop, staying in the travelodge there and then getting the train to liverpool.
