Does rice do this to you too, and how to avoid it?

Yea Q do a chana masala or chana dahl, think the recipes are in the OS recipe index:p"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

You might want to try to add a taste more protein to your meal Q. I find rice can make me hungry later too... although a tasty veggie curry with it helps *drools*
I had sardines and spinach afterwards - that's about 20g of high quality protein added to the wholegrain rice - so about 26g good protein for the meal.
The rice was boiled then dressed with sauteed garlic, extra virgin olive oil, a light sprinkling of parmesan cheese and some black pepper.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
What was included in the whole meal?
I watch my portion sizes and I am always disappointed by the portions size of rice, calorie for calorie, compared with potatoes and pasta.
To bulk rice up I often add 'free' veg (ie veg so low in carbs they count as free on most major weight watching plans). What I add depends on the meal, eg mushroom, pepper, onion, courgette, brocolli. Or, for more calories but still relatively good on the waistline I add peas and sweetcorn.

Sorry, we cross-posted.
That sounds like a delicious dish but it is calorie dense without much bulk, ie fibre to fill you up. Of the things I suggested earlier then I think mushroom and broccoli would go best with that.0 -

LOL my staple is wholegrains - that rice was wholegrain and quite high in fibre. I also eat lots of wholegrain pasta (me being Italian), and that fills me up properly.
It is only rice that has this effect me, which is why I eat it so rarely. Shame because I like the stuff.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
Not sure if OS is the right place for this, so apologies to the BGs...
I've had a very simple but tasty wholegrain rice dish for lunch, and loved every bit of it. I would have rice more often, but after a couple of hours of eating it I start feeling really sharp hunger pangs. I mean real HUNGER, and only rice does that to me.
Does anyone here have the same problem and, more to the point, is it possible to overcome it, say by mixing it with some other foods?
Help and comfort appreciated...:A
I am the expert on rice here.
Rice is very easily digested, and that is why just after you've had a delicious helping of my rice, you suddenly feel like another.
That is also the reason why some of my rice is ideal for people who are ill.Perfect every time0 -
