Post counting...server on the pop?

anyone know how a member can be thanked in 4 times as many posts as they've posted? Probably just me misunderstanding the numbers?!

true enough, but can you be thanked 2463 times in 1346 posts (making sense so far) when your post count is only 339?

What I think the OP means is that sometimes you see, for instance,

Post Count 30
thanked 250 in 120 posts

This would mean that some posts were deleted by the mods, either individually or because part of a thread that was deleted, but the thanks stats remain unchanged.

It's possible that the server has made errors, but there may be a simpler explanation. If the person deletes (or has deleted by a moderator) any past posts that received thanks, the "Post count" goes down, but the "Thanked count" does not.

There is at least one other poster on this forum who it seems regularly deletes his/her own past posts. Quite why I don't know - it looks a bit o/c to me - but the result can be that if you search back through the old posts, some just don't make sense because of the missing bits.

Well, often one makes lots of posts on a thread that then it's spoilt by others and and everything gets deleted. So even if one's posts are 'good' so to speak, they will go too if the thread goes...
