Help!! Need booklist!

I want to buy my brother a textbook for his Uni course as a present, all I know is that the course is called 'Building Surveying' and it's in a Manchester Uni.
I've googled 'Manchester Uni Building Surveying Course' and all that comes up is The University of Salford, Manc. I suspect this is the right Uni but where would I find a book list? The only thing I can find on the website is details of the course (lesson structure etc)
Are there any students out there about to start the same course that could help out?

Book lists will tend to be on whatever the universities VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) is. This is only able to be accessed by students on that course using a username and password0

Don't suppose there are any students who could log on and check for me

Book tokens?0

If you want to buy it as a surprise call his department and just ask.
But for most degrees there are a number of courses which make up the degree and there isn't a book list which covers the whole degree. I just started my degree and I've got 7 different courses to pass in my first year. Each course has a core textbook plus others which may be useful but not necessary. I get told in the first lecture of each module/course what the core textbook is (if there is one).0 -
As a student I would have much rather got a book token as a gift, rather than an actual book. The problem is that you don't know what he's got, and sometimes the books on the booklist aren't books you'd need to buy anyway - quite often if they're core texts there are loads in the library, and sometimes book lists are just an excuse to bump up the lecturer's royalties lol ... More often it's the money you have to spend on wider reading that's the bugbear, not getting hold of what's on the reading lists. Also, textbooks come in lots of different styles (ie there can be three or four 'core' textbooks with the same content, more or less, but the writing style and layout of the text can be very different and different books suit different learners) so it's really better, sometimes, to let someone pick their own, especially if it's something they want to use as a core textbook. I'd have loved a book token - I know it's not the same as a physical book but the thought is still there. Academic textbooks can be ridiculously expensive so you really don't want to give him something he's already got.0

Many thanks for all your help guys, I think book tokens might be the easier option
