What should i say in response to why i want to do a balance transfer?

I recieved a letter the other day from Virgin asking to call them regarding details of the balance transfer request. I can see why, with me having 7 other different credit cards!

What would the best answer be to that question (if asked)?

do they know you have 7 cards? you can tell them that you want all debt in one place so you can manage it more easily
