Website design and Dreamweaver question.

I know that there are loads of website design threads and i have looked at loads but still a bit lost.
Right, i have bought a domain name as advised from 123 and it has gone through. Now debating who to get to host it.
I now want to design (and am a novice, although i did a fab website on google from their templates which no one saw due to massive domain address etc)
So is dreamweaver the best now and is it the £250ish one or is there a cheaper one? Money is an issue as my business is not even worth £250 at the moment but i don't really want a site with loads of adverts.
And how do you get the site from the design actually put on the site?
Lastly do you put tags somewhere or keywords so that people actually find your site if searching on google as it would be nice to be found as the .co.uk the same as mine is at the top and i am the .com with same name(as i originally was after the co.uk with same name so had to get .com instead).
I know, i want the moon on a stick!

dreamweaver is the best but maybe you should learn to walk first?
try a free program or readymade site first.
as for hosting services try https://www.qiq.co.uk
they have a special offer on at the moment for 30 days. 99p for 12 months!
clcik on hosting and then use the code BDAY10Get some gorm.0 -
you can "point" your domain at the google web space domain address you created if you are happy with it , then when people enter www.mywebsite.co.uk
they get redirected to the google site without ever realisingEx forum ambassador

Hi
Depending on what kind of site you are looking to put together it may not be worth investing in dreamweaver.
In the grand scheme of things if you can use dreamweaver to a decent level you can probably hand type the site with better results.
What sort of site are you trying to set up? This can be a consideration for your hosting too.
I use a US hosting company for sites that I don't mind not appearing under googles pages from the uk option and have around 12 sites hosted for under £5 a month.
If you let me know exactly what you are looking for I could offer a very surprising rate!
Google the .co.uk for my image to get in touch.

I have used dreamweaver before and you can actually get amazing results, but it took a good few hours of training etc before I could use it to make a working website.
There are plenty more (cheaper) programs which are easier to use, but perhaps dreamweaver has the most potential.
For a small business, i personally wouldn't recommend dreamweaver, unless you get a really good tuition book/tutor and the price really is a problem (otherwise I would actually have bought it by now).
As for Google, can you not submit your website to google to place on its search engine?0 -
Now it could be because I am a programmer at heart, but I have found that anything that you can do with Dreamweaver can be done better and in the same amount of time with hand code.
Dreamweaver makes life easier but does lots for you which is fine until something breaks, then its alot more difficult to figure out. Try to learn hand coding and you will not be disappointed.Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

For what you want, id try looking at local web design firms. Many smaller firms, or students, may be able to offer you a high quality site 'professionally' built for £250 to a good standard.0

You can Download WebPlus from Serif for free.
It's a decent WYSIWYG solution. You might want to give that a try and if you don't get on with it then I wouldn't bother about DreamweaverIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
I got a book off Amazon and within a week had built a simple site. It was all hand code and now Dreamweaver is a god send off using hand code for so long.0

I would say pasy a student, dreamweaver is not good enough on its own to make a pro looking site, you would need other things such as photoshop for your images, sure a basic css based site is easy enough to do but most websites have so much images these days it may we worth paying a student £250 for a site ( of course you want to see some sort of portfolio first )
Also try http://webhostingtalk.com for hosting and you can also find website designers their ( some with amazing work ) for under $500 ~ £2500 -
Older version of Dreamweaver (v8 - from 2006 apparently) with Flash for £60 from Amazon.

You'll hardly notice the difference if your only learning.0
