Tesco cancel grocery delivery

I Was wondering if anybody else has experienced this with Tesco Grocery delivery. I ordered my shopping online to be delivered between 3pm-5pm yesterday however it did not arrive. I phoned them at 5.30 to ask about it, and was told that due to staff shortages that day my order was cancelled. They said somebody tried to phone at 1.30pm to say it would not be arriving. I was not in so did not get the call, they did not leave a message either. I asked why they did not try to get in touch with me another way and was told he thinks there were going to send an email, they hadn't as i had my email open as i was talking to him. Also i asked why they didn't phone at 3pm to say my shopping was not going to be delivered as they knew somebody would be in then and was told that i wouldn't have been very happy to find out my shopping wasn't coming then (but it is ok for me to sit for 2 hours waiting on shopping they know wont arrive?!?!?!) Then he said i can see if there are any delivery slots for tonight or tomorrow which there wasn't. I then asked if i could go along to the store and collect my shopping, so he checked with the store and they said no as my shopping hadn't been picked. After being cut off, passed round a few different ext numbers and being told i would need to argue it out with the store manager i decided just to take another delivery slot on Monday. However i am going to call them and just cancel the order this morning and do the shopping myself. Should they compensate me for the inconvenience?

They should compensate you for the cost of your calls.

Compensation is supposed to put you in the financial position you were in before the incident.

If you are that unhappy with Tesco, vote with your feet and shop elsewhere.

    Try asda, sainsburys or ocado,
  • Hi Thanks for your comments, i phoned and cancelled the order explaining why, they girl on the other end of the phone apologised. I told them i won't be shopping on line with them again, as i find them unreliable.

Went shopping the normal way, walked into Asda and picked it myself from the shelves.

I was just going to say the same thing.
Asda really messed up for me by charging me twice and never delivering my order whereas Tesco are always on time and always bring my shopping upstairs to my kitchen :)
