It all depends on whether the Icelandic government has enough money.
?
Perhaps they could pass the tin around all the villages that make up the Icelandic "economy".
But since inflation is 14% and poor Icelanders are going to being forced to invest at home for their pensions, I think the tin might remain empty.
Icelanders must be furious with their government.
They've got a much bigger gripe than UK savers.0 -
I retired last year and received a medium size lump sum after 41 years working. I was so tempted by Money Saving Expert to put some money in Icesave and am greatly relieved I knew that there are NO money saving experts and that the best place for people like me who see lump sums very rarely and have no chance of ever getting another one, the best place for money is in the UK. For months and months Martin Lewis was promoting IceSave as a best buy place for your savings - how wrong could he be?
By all means read MSE.com, but just be aware that there is NEVER a single source of money advice, and above all, your own wisdom and intuition are the most important guides.

Have all the Icelandic cheerleaders and PR Teams stopped posting on this Forum?0

This from "Genny" another MSE sock-puppet for Icesave. (29 Sept)The media, especially the tabloid press, reporting constant "worries" about Icelandic Banks (to which there is often no foundation whatsoever)
Any comments now, "Genny", you ghastly fraud!"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

They have gone quiet, haven't they?!
I wonder if the forum shills who were on the Landsbanki payroll will get re-employment as propagandists for Kaupthing, upholding its good name, too (ahem)..."If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Martin has never claimed anything different from this.0 -
Writing on 28-9-08...I remember back in March/April when the panic was on about Icesave some people were posting that they were cashing in their ISAs to get their money out asap - not even transferring them because they were in such a hurry. They lost their ISA entitlements and look pretty foolish now!
Astute investors who hastily pulled their cash from Icesave on the first sign of trouble were "pretty foolish", eh?!
Presumably not half as foolish as those who saw the trouble coming, but chose to ignore it.."If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
