Eon - is this legal?

I changed from Energysaver Online 5 to Energysaver Online 7 in September (or it could have been 6 to 8 - not entirely sure, just know the new one was cheaper than the one I had at the time) I received a letter yesterday advising me of a price increase which would take effect from August 08. This backdates it to BEFORE I changed. Is it legal to advertise a price and then change it retrospectively? Must say I'm not impressed.

I guess it depends on the price shown on the website when you switched. If it showed one price and then you told of an increase which takes effect before that date then I would get onto the complaints department.

I've posted a number of times about this. Eon captured all account data on 22nd Aug and the price increase letter is based on that. If you subsequently changed tariff you still get the letter because on Aug 22nd you would have received a price increase on the tariff you were on at that time. With you changing tariffs that was only for a small number of days but it still happened.

If they hadn't done this you would have received a price increase on the tariff you were on from 22-8 up to your switch date but you'd not get a letter about it.
