How Does The Yorkshire BS Look

Hi Do I need to worry about my savings in The Yorkshire they say they are in good shape but with whats going on at the minute who knows

Also I do have more than £35000 in but spread out over different accounts. I know its wrong but I am worried about where to move some of the money to.

I was thinking of perhaps putting daughters name on some of them so will that save guard that account will she get the benefit of the £35000.

The only problem with putting their names on is that in Dec I retire and will no longer have to pay tax in interest and I will have to carry on paying tax if I take that option.

If I have to move I do worry where will I move it to

Any thoughts on this will be appreciated. Just remembered to say my Husband also has £35000 there so it wont make any difference if we make a joint account.

  • My personal opinion is that this one is (relatively) safe.

I have been involved in arranging a number of mortgages with them over the past 10-12 years (one or two of them for me personally). In all cases I have found their mortgage offers to be distinctly on the low side compared to other mortgage institutions.

While that may have been annoying at the time (from the borrower's perspective) looking back I can see that this is a clear indication of a consistently conservative company. That conservatism may well prove to be their strength in the current climate.

As you have seen from the crash of B&B and before that, Northern Rock, Derbyshire and others, no one is going to lose their deposits.
    Please stop worrying.
