Hi everyone,
I wonder if you can help. For about a month now I am having a problem in firefox and it is getting very frustrating now.
Suddenly about a month ago, my passwords were not being remembered in firefox like they used to. I work from home, for myself, on the internet all day and I have to access various websites all day including yahoo mail, amazon, ebay, and MSE and all of these websites keep logging themselves out after a certain amount of time, say 20 minutes of inaction, even though I click the box that says remember username and password, which I have always done. This has never been an issue until recently and since I spend 8 hours a day on the pc it is slowing me down and is growing tiresome.
I have tested this in IE and it is not a problem there. I have checked the cache and there is no problem there.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
In case you need it I have a laptop pc, running Windows XP and I have firefox version 3.02.
Thanks

Sound like a cookies issue - although there's a new version of Firefox out 3.0.3 (best to update to that).
Check in Tools > Options > Privacy (tab) that cookies as set to keep until expire and both accept boxes are ticked. Also ensure clear private data is not wiping cookies when you close a browser session.0 -
As above - I think you choose when the cookies are delelted, either, after a session, after closing broswer or after certain period of time. Make sure the right one (time) is ticked and put it for around 14 days.0

As I said, I already checked the cookies, they are set to keep until they expire, but accept boxes are ticked and the clear private data on close is NOT ticked.
I have also just upgraded with the newest 3.03 and no change!!!
Please help thanks! My darling boy born December 20110 -
Hi,
have a wee look in Security, just to see if any passwords saved.0 -
This is a bug in both 3.02 and 3.03. 3 options are available to you.
1. Downgrade to v3.01
2. Re-enter your passwords manually again and it shall be fine.
3. Resave signons3.txt
Option 1 is not advisable as 3.02 and 3.03 both fixed security issues.
Option 2 is painstaking and does not always resolve the issue.
Option 3 is the best resolution, In order to do this do the following:
1. open notepad.exe
2. look for a file signons3.txt in the folder "documents and settings"
subfolder= nameof user\userdata\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
(Dokumente und Einstellungen\name anwender\Anwendungsdaten\Mozilla\Firefox
\Profiles)
3. open the file signons3.txt in notepad
4. save the file as ! : leave the name and choose the option save as UTF-8
ANSI is the standard
5. restart firefox and it should be fine0 -
I use roboform; it's brilliant. There is a small fee is you want it to save more than 10 passwords I think, but in my opinion it is worth it. Check it out; it might save the problem you are having.Karma is a wonderful thing.0
