Bradford and Bingley - Treasury to intervene
Comments

Unaware of the current situation (I hadn't read the news for a few days), I closed a matured Fixed Rate savings account with Bradford & Bingley on Saturday morning. I now have a very large cheque from them (from their account with the Co-op Bank) ready to pay into my bank account on Monday.
Now I have heard the news. Is my cheque going to bounce?0 -

No. it now has Bank of England guaranteeKrusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

I know its looking like shares are worthless now, but if only part of the company is being nationalised and the other being sold on, surley shares should still be worth something?
Or is it because the govenment are taking control of everything at first and selling on the good bits after, meaning since they stole it from shareholders.
Sucks if you ask me0 -
B+B shares would be zero tomorrow morning so they haven't really stolen any money off you.Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

Take your point on threads going off topic and insults, but it gets confusing if 2 threads start building up talking about the same thing. It also gets tiring reading questions on one thread that have been answered on the other.theholdways wrote: »LongTermLurker I read through the other thread and it seemed full of stuff re shares and going off topic and insults - this thread was shorter and more on the savings side. Sorry if I am upsetting people on here I only come on occasionally and am not a fully fledged poster! You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -
