Fake memory cards on eBay

I'm sure the savvy amongst you will know this already -

I purchased a Sony memory stick from eBay this week. When I put it into my camera it corrupted straight away and refused to format. I took into into a Sony Centre who examined it and advised me that it's actually fake. Apparently the vast majority of memory cards sold on eBay are fake.

I have another of these cards (a genuine one) and wouldn't have known the difference until I did some research - the differences are obvious now but I'd never have known it was fake if the card had worked. There's a useful guide explaining how to spot a fake here -
