if that does not work then just go to Add/Remove programs and remove all the Norton entries and a bit of software called Liveupdate

    thats looking clean

Greasypalm runs all the time which is a drain on speed

to tidy up , download and run

    www.ccleaner.com

unticking the box to install the Yahoo toolbar during the install, then run it and let it remove all your old junk

    then go to

    www.windowsupdate.com

    choose "Express"

and download XP service pack 3 to make sure your version of Xp is fully patched and secure

after a reboot go back to windows update again and choose "Custom" , look under hardware and update anything that needs doing there ( normally improved graphics/Lan card drivers etc)

if it's still slow after all this then it may just be a case of buying a bit more Ram , for an old PC probably about £10 - £15

It's running a bit faster now but I think I'll do as you advise and invest in a bit more Ram.

go to control panel , then click on the system button , bottom right should tell you the amount of Ram you have , if it says 256Mb then i would add at least another 512 to that
