I would be more inclined to look in the phone book for an automotive electrician as it's more their sort of domain. I would wait for replies here first though. My guess is either the switch is broken, a relay has failed, wiring is damaged somewhere, or that the motor itself needs replacing. But hopefully someone here will know the car more than I do. Would also recommend looking for a vauxhall forum on the net - this may already have been asked about, or if not it may be something someone into vauxhalls knows about
Edit: looks like it's *possibly* the motor that needs replacing http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071230111457AAsuhvp I would try find more confirmation on the internet first though. Then your task is call around the garages for the cheapest quote on replacing the motor.0 -
Theres some good tips on the link that anewman above has found, i had the same problem (different make of car though) and luckily when i used WD40 on the linkage parts the wippers sprang back into life. If you do try it only spray on the linkage mechanism and not the windscreen or electrical parts.
If this dosn't work then it does sound a bit more involved like the motor, if you know someone thats handy with car repairs it would save you a fortune as most of the costs involved will be labour charges.0 -
lube it up with some spray see if that makes any difference
but my money is on it needing a new motor0 -
thanks i tried wd40 on the bearings still on go slow, gonna ring round some garages this afternoon....thanks for replies.0

My guess would still be stiff linkage, a motor would surely just work or not but a stiff linkage would slow down the motor. It's been a fairly common issue with Sharans for some reason and if the linkage is left to seize it burns the motor out too.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

when you say slow do you mean very very slow or just the slow speed?
The reason i ask is it could be your switch that is broken if its only going on slow speed
But i suspect you mean the wipers are just moving very slowly!0
