Laptop scrolling and sticking to top of page...help!

Options
I'm on an Acer Aspire 5520G, it's only a couple of weeks old. I'm not sure if it's after I use the touchpad scroll up button, but every so often, the page scrolls up quite fast to the top of the page and nothing I do will stop it. Then it continues to stay stuck to the top of the page.
When it's like that, pressing spacebar or control makes the screen magnify (even pressing control and -), and the only thing I can do is to restart the computer. That fixes it until the next time it happens.
Once the scrolling thing starts, it continues to happen in IE but also documents:confused: .

Any ideas? The touchpad is very sensitive, sometimes I think just hovering is enough to change things, but otherwise everything seems fine.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

it sounds like a key could be sticking - or you are inadvertantly pressing a keu without realising it

Yeh when you leave finger marks or you have greasy fingers or something, the touchpad will auto think its being used. If it does that, jst wet your finger, rub it all over (hehe) then dry it with your sleeve or something, then it should be ok.

    Or get a mouse.
  • Touch pads <spit> look in the settings and trim them back a bit. You will find that each corner, side and finger stroke have a "feature" preprogrammed for the app. you are running, turn these off and use standard touchpad finger movements, and please buy a mouse.
  • Thanks exup and Lokolo - yes, it looks like the up part of the scroll key is sticking - but I'm wondering if it's a fault in it, and if I should return it (the laptop is not even two weeks old yet!) . I've discovered I can fix the problem by pressing really hard on the down part of the scroll button, but can't find out why it's happening.

Thanks totalsolutions, yes I've made sure there are no features attached to any part of the touchpad. I haven't used a mouse for aaaages - I love my touchpads! On the rare occasions when I use a PC at work, I find I'm repeatedly stabbing the keyboard expecting a touchpad to be there:rotfl: .
