Market value of a 2nd hand tv?

Hello

I'd love any tips on where I can find out the market value of a second hand tv.

My flatmate is moving out and has asked me to buy her tv from her to keep in the flat. I'm wondering if I should buy it from her (and for how much?!) or buy a new one in the January sales. It's a Samsung LCD 26" TV bought new in the last quarter of 2006, and has an in-built freeview box. I recall it cost about £600 new but am not sure.

Thank you o' wise moneysavers!

DD

Look on Ebay, there are a lot of 2nd hand tellies for sale there.
  • People are giving TV's away for free on Freecycle all the time - I guess it would depend on how much you wanted it and how much they wanted to sell it for.
  • I sold a 26" CRT JVC Tele on ebay for £10. But as its an LCD it should be worth a bit more, possibly say between £100 - £150. Televisions drop price quite quickly since new models are out all the time.

I did a quick search on ebay for Samsung LCD Tele and it came back with a new one for £350 so I guess a used one would be far cheaper then that. I also searched on Amazon and you can buy a Sony 26" for £345 from Amazon.

it is close to 2 years old, the warranty is at best coming to its final year and I have no idea if it is transferable. There probably have been many models since.

The answer here is £75-80 http://www.gumtree.com/london/2517_6.html
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)
