Help with inheritance and HB

I am a single mum and work and receive full HB CTB, I am due to inherit 15k in a few months , it is actually my mum who will get this , and i owe my ex more than this, so i wanted it to go straight to him, which my mum has agreed to the moeny going straight to him.
Is this ok, or would i get into trouble with it? Im starting to wish i was never getting the money.

Is it you or your mother who is the beneficiary? If it's you then there's already a thread about a similar situation which you could look at on here.0

Im not sure, its my nans money but my mum is getting it first before it is given to me, im just trying to decide if its worth her keeping it for a few years, if its going to mess my money up0

It depends on what the will says. Is your mother the executor and are you a beneficiary? If so, she has to pass the money on to you - it's a legal duty.0

If you're the beneficiary of the will then you must inform the authorities and you're likely to lose HB until your savings come under the limit. If you pay back your ex with this you will still lose HB as you will be considered to have deliberately spent the capital.0
