Free blog recommendations

Hi, I want to set up a blog and am looking for recommendations. Im looking for one that is free and is user friendly. If possible please advise of limitations so that Im aware before signing up. It has to be search engine friendly which I think I read a while ago can vary from provider to provider.

Two of the most popular are Blogger and WordPress.

I don't have a blog any more, but if I did, my personal preference would be for WordPress. Blogger is owned by Google though, so I doubt you'd have and problems as far as search engine compatibility goes. It's also probably the most user friendly of the two.

As a blog novice I chose Blogger to record a round-the-world trip. I found it easy to use with all the features I needed. Templates let you choose how your blog will look with minimal effort.

If you already have a Google sign on (eg for Gmail) then you need do nothing more to begin using it.

I would recommend Blogger for your needs, I have used Wordpress also in the past but the great this about blogger is that your stuff is indexed by google instantly as you post it, they do not advertise this as a feature but my posts have turned up in searchs on google seconds later.
