Big pay drop, need to sell car in a hurry

Hi
Have been using this site for a while now and thought Id ask you guys for some advice.
I recently took a pay cut of around £800 a month to join the police, it's the career I've wanted for years and its taken me a long time to get in.
I bought a Toyota Celica about 2 years ago and took out an AA personal loan, paying £225 a month. I have £11k left to pay and 53 monthly payments left. I am struggling now with these payments and with my mortgage and bills etc I have less than £50 a month to live on.
I advertised the car privately a couple of months ago and just got inundated with telesales magazine people so cancelled the ad. Every second hand car dealer I go to tries to hammer me down ridiculously on price and I need to trade it down for something smaller.
I don't know what to do and can't get into serious debt due to my job. AA wont let me change my payment amount, I was considering selling the car and paying a lump sum off but they wont reduce the payments even if I do that. If I manage to sell the car am I better off sticking the spare cash in an account to do the payments for the AA and just put say £125 a month into that myself? or am I better trying to pay the loan all off and get a new loan for a cheaper car. Sorry this is so longwinded, I would appreciate any advice.
