opening a dcr file

Options
I am trying to open a dcr file sometimes I have seen them as pdr files but anyway when I click on the file windows says it cannot open the file because windows does not know what created it. Windows gives 2 options check your own computer for whatever created it or an automatic version which takes you to a windows download which you have to pay for £29.99 I think it said.

I think I had better fill you in before we go any further. I lost a lot of photos from my computer and thanks to a lot of people on the techie site I got nearly all of them back some though, through pc inspector, I saved to an external hard drive and this is where the dcr files are.

Any help on this and I would be most gratefull

Thanks Chris

  • A .dcr file can also be generated by Borland Delphi to register a programmer's component with the development tools (I have some on my hard drive as I'm a programmer myself).

A component is, to put it as simply as I can, like a plug-in that someone else has written to make supporting a particular feature much easier. For example, the various buttons on the forum pages would be created using Button components in Delphi or VB. Also, many Delphi programs use components for accessing the internet, printing, etc.
