Sorry to read about your redundancy, I have every sympathy with you having been put in the same position last year.
I do know that various stores are recruiting for Christmas (it may be something in the short term), e.g. Poundland, Argos and the Royal Mail (no doubt various others too).

if you can afford it £15 or so try getting the following book from Amazon "what colour is my parachute" - a bit american but very sound advice about how to find the best way to get a new job, and to work out what a good job is for you.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
