Made Redundant today

Hey

It's been ages since I last posted, I've not been very well and there has been loads of stuff going on.

I found out that I am being made redundant today. Well actually I'm not going back. I've been looking through my redundancy offer and it's just under £3000, but I have no idea what I am going to do.

I lost it a little on my cc which means that has risen, luckily I have insurance on that and my loan. Just need a hug and some advice really.

This is my plan so far:

- Get documents from the office checked by employment solicitor (they will pay for this)
- Visit recruitment agencies, perm and temp
- CAB for advice on anything I can claim
- Job centre
- Bank for help on loan protection etc
- Meal plan everything that is in the house.
- Ebay everything that isn't glued down.

Oh and then

- Cancel christmas!!!!!!

  • oh Lucy, sorry to hear you've been made redundant.

I've had it happen twice now so know how it feels.

Take a few days to get yourself together, you'll need it to decide what to do.

When you are ready, post your CV on all the employment websites, Monster is a good one to start with.

think of it as an opportunity to start again. The first time it happened to me I was blinkered and only looked for jobs the same as I was already doing.

This time I took time to sit and think about what I wanted to do rather than doing what I felt I should be doing. It might mean completely starting your career again which is hard (particularly financially!) but if you think about what you've always wanted to do, why not seriously look into it now.

    Here's a hug for you

    Thanks

My head hurts, and everything keeps going round it.

I had no warning which sort of makes it worse!

  • everything will go around in your head, it's only natural. The first time it happened to me, I had to get the train to London and the team were told. I sat on the train on the way back trying not to cry or panic and wrote lots of mad, panicky notes called 'what can I do now' or something similar in a book. I remember the chap opposite kind of giving me a kind smile when I looked up. I saw myself in the mirror when I got home and I was white, I must have looked awful.

We're all here for you to get you through each day.

    Thanks.

Sensible head say it will be ok. I have a friend to is the temp person in a local agency, I will stack shelves if needed and there are some jobs in the paper that I am going to apply for.

    It's just such a shock.
