Symantec kills Sygate firewall

Hi,

Just a heads up, to those, like me who use sygate personal firewall - Symantec have decided to discontinue it AND the forums from 30th Nov.

Alos as the free Kerio is soon to be no more, the options are reducing. More info here.

I don't like ZoneAlarm, and I don't know too much about any of the other free firewalls - anyone have any suggestions?

Or if its already downloaded it will be fine...

hate Nortons with a vengeance as it screws up so many PC's !!

Yeah I cant abide Norton, Users thought MS were bad. (ok not as bad as norton though)

I have used ZA for years without problems but I do appreciate it may not be "all things to all men".

As far as I am aware it doesnt have updates as its quite a rigid
program, It just does the same thing with no variables.

When Checkpoint bought Zonealarm, I thought the free version of Zonealarm would disappear too.

I had just downloaded Sygate to evaluate in case Zonealarm became a chargeable piece of software - ho hum.

Outpost full version is good but a bit techy.
