30 Hour element and housing benefit

Couple of questions for anyone in the know.

Im currently unemployed but my wife works 22 hours per week. Im looking for temp work (Christmas) due to the current job climate. If i manage to get a minimum of 8 hours will this mean we can claim the 30 hour element on tax credits?
Also do i have to be working for a certain length of time as christmas jobs tend to be 2-3 months.
We currently have my daughter living with us who is at college (classed as young person)

Secondly if we are able to claim the 30 hour element does this get taken into account in our housing benefit claim or is it classed as disregarded income?

Any help appreciated.

One of you has to be doing 30hrs to get the 30 hour element. It's classed as income the same way the rest of the WTC award is.

You can receive the 30 hour a week element if you work 30 hours between you, if you have at least one child, but one of you must work at least 16 hours a week. I dont know if you have to work a certain length of time or not. Also, yes, it definitely would be taken into account regarding housing benefit. Good luck with the job hunting.
