Online Banking e-mails.

:rolleyes:I assume this has already been mentioned else where, but there is no harm in reiterrating.

Classic phishing really, i've recently had them in there dozen, banks i've never used or had an coreponsdence with sending e-mails along the lines of..

Dear sir/madam

Blah blah blah Recent security issues regarding your online/current account blah blah blah update your information by clicking here blah blah blah Sincerly (insert bank here) security team.

I only mention them as as of late they have been getting through my spam filter into my inbox. Norton Security usually blocks the link but sometimes you can follow them to quite realistic looking update pages. You wouldn't be blamed to fill these in as they look genuine.

The give away for me is the fact that there are banks i've never used.

I will say, this is all in my experience. I know the ones coming to me are fake but if indeed there is a problem with your online banking or you account im sure they would let you know through more offical means.

I for one would love someone to steal my identity as it would put these criminals off reoffending as soon as they tried to use my name.

I agree with you. I feel sorry for anyone that falls for this as if you are new to computers and email it is easy to be taken in. I get these emails as well and wish I could get them back as I cannot stand being ripped off. Maybe we could give them false information and lead them a merry dance! Would that work?

giving false information could work, they're not exactly going to know the correct info are they
  • Careful as a lot of the phishing websites have viruses on them!! Best not to click on any dodgy links.
  • Its best when they don't even mention which bank they are from, they just say your bank details need confirming.

Also had an email from a "person" saying they had recieved an email with my bank statements attached in error, bit hard when i get only paper copies of my statements. Likley to be a virus attached.
More [STRIKE]knowledge[/STRIKE] stuff then sense

Am so tempted to collate all the addresses of email that gets caught in my spam filter, then forward them all to each other!
I don't even possess one to enlarge!
