After hearing about the Liquid Gold savings account (0.95% AER) I thought I'd have a look at their other products.
Look at this ....
Whoopee bloody doos, A&L and Lloyds can managed 5% and 4% respectively for the same thing, and A&L only require £500 per month.
So this is why they need that stupid advertising campaign on TV.
                Look at this ....
Halifax Current Account
With 2.53% AER (2.50% gross p.a.) on credit balances, our Current Account pays an amazing 25 times more interest than most other high street banks if you pay in £1,000 or more a month

Thanks, but no thanks. No wonder more people switch to us than any other bank. We give you so much extra and the process is so simple.

            It goes on...Credit card
Spectacular for all the wrong reasons.A spectacular typical 15.9% APR (variable)
I'm coming to the conclusion that there's a lot of mugs out there.Happy chappy0

Well I think their 5% Saver Direct cash ISA is very good and only took me five minutes to open in branch without an appointment. Better then some of the other ISAs on offer at other banks that have a sneaky bonus added to their rates that last five minutes (hmmmm First direct springs to mind).0

I think that Halifax have some OK accounts and some that are IFfy...0

Same as every other bank then. Also remember the maxim: interest rates vary in inverse proportion to customer service levels (A&L anyone?)Ethical moneysaver0

I have 2 accounts with the Halifax - one being the Web Saver Account - this account gives you a cashpoint/link card, on-line control panel where you can setup/cancel DD's, SO's, transfer money ...etc, wages/salary paid in plus the intrest rate is better than the Co-Operative Banks ISA !!!!
The other account is the current account (C&P VISA £100 cheque Quarantee card) and even then the Halifax is generous at the arranged overdraft limit - the APR is lower than some of my credit cards Proudly Banking & Saving With: Proudly Banking & Saving With:
