Anyone had problems with Free boiler cover from Npower ?
Options
Earlier this summer I called Npower out to fix my boiler (it was a faulty
PCB) under their fixed repair cost scheme. The boiler is an Ideal M30100
and is 6 years old.
I was looking to switch suppliers at the time and thought that the NPower
One tariff with 12 months free boiler cover was a good option so signed
up for it.
The switchover has been straightforward enough but when I tried to
activate the boiler cover (which is provided through HomeServe) I was
told that the Ideal M30100 wasn't on their list of approved boilers and
therefore couldn't be covered - Homeserve offered home electrical
breakdown cover as an alternative which I wasn't interested in.
I called Npower to see what their reasoning was for this and although I
initially had high hopes about getting the boiler covered, this has faded
after a number of unreturned calls.
Do you think its right that Npower will only considered covering my
boiler if their engineer does it and I pay for it at the time ?
What would you suggest is the best course of action ?

I have been promised on four different occasions that a boiler repair person would come out to my property and none have. ON three occasions, no one contacted me and on the forth, I was contacted at 12 to say that the part was unavailable.
I cannot get through to senior management to complain and I definitely would not recommend this company.0
