Britsh Gas, going up ? or not ? (Click Energy 5 Capping)
Hi,
i am just looking at energy supplies for my new house and on the energyhelpline site British Gas comes out top but it says that it is due to raise prices 20-30% (as others have recently)
However, when you go to the british gas website (through Quidco of course £10/20 cash back
) It says that with that tariff prices are fixed to 2012........
Can anyone advsie whether ther is a catch or if this can avoid a price hike ??

Thanks

Click energy 5 has never been a fixed/capped tariff and looking on the BG site it states the tariff is "variable". So the switching sites are correct to say that it is due to rise 20-30% as it was not increased when BG raised the other prices.Hi,

It is the "Fixed Price 2012" tariff that is fixed. "Click energy 5" is a different tariff and is not fixed.0

ah ok, it was this on quidco that made me think that
'On British Gas energy products cashback is only available when you have taken a service from British Gas which you previously did not have. If you change an existing tariff (e.g. changing Click Energy 5 to Fix Your Prices to 2011) you will not receive cashback. If you are an existing gas customer and you choose to become a British Gas electricity customer as well you will receive cashback of £20 for taking on British Gas electricity.'
Maybe i will have to reconsider, but with teh fixed until 2012 plan does that mean fixed before it goes up ? if it does is that not a no brainer if every company is hiking prices ?0 -
It will be fixed at the price prevailing when you sign up, you will however find that the fixed tariff has a substantial premium to online tariffs and also to their standard tariff.ah ok, it was this on quidco that made me think that
