Cancelled Flights

Easyjet have cancelled our outbound flight in December and have offered an alternative which isn't suitable.
We have cancelled our booking therefore and expect a full refund, plus a refund on the car hire (less 5% non refndable deposit) which we booked through their website. We had bog standard travel insurance which doesn't (I think) cover us and luckily our insurers have offered us a full refund of the premium since we are no longer travelling.
We have lost £60 for airport parking, plus £60 for our deposit for the accommodation booked. Lesson learned. In the grand scheme of things it could be a lot worse so I am not complainig. However I wanted to ask whether anyone has experience of this with Easyjet and if so how long it took to get a refund. Also, we booked the accommodation on a creditcard, is there any chance we can claim the £60 back from the credit card co ? (I suspect not) Is there any likeliehood of being able to claim anything from our travel insurance? They seemed too quick to offer a full refund of the premium (which was a lovely surprise but the cynic in me won't go away!)

Claiming on the policy that you just cancelled? - No!
Claim on Credit Card for the accommodation - What did the accommodation do wrong to let you charge the money back. Maybe an idea to call them to ask them how you stand? Maybe they will just let you move the dates reserved later in the year?
Same for the car parking?0 -
Hi thanks for your quick reply
We haven't actually cancelled the insurance yet. I was just seeking opinions on whether it was wise to do so if there was any chance that we could claim.
I also understand your point on the accommodation and agree with you - the provider did nothing wrong. I guess I am pretty confident that we have claimed back everything we can - I just wanted a second opinion on if I had missed out any recourse to claim the £120 we are down on - moneysaving and all that!
I don't want to rile people, in the grand scheme of things we are not that out of pocket compred to the poor souls who were with XL etc....

Just realised in all the waffling that my main question got lost:
How long can I reasonably expect it to take Easyjst to refund the costs of the flights and car hire - days/weeks/months?0 -
Easyjet owed me money after a flight was cancelled last December, I got the refund last month. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

Easyjet are slow so keep on badgering them!
I would accept the insurance refund as dont think there will be any clause to get the deposits back. Might be worth checking about moving the dates to try to make the lost deposits have some value though on accomm and car parking.0 -
OMG - 8 months !!
If EasyJet are so slow, wouldn't I be better off claiming the monies from my credit card company and they can have the pleasant job of badgering Easyjet? Would this be possible?
I have no experience of this, having only ever booked through a Tour Company (and I will make sure thats what I do in the future - my one and only go at Independant travel has been a failure)
Sorry I have no experience of this.0 -
My experience was that the CC co would only get involved if Easyjet refused to refund. Easyjet repeatedly assured me that they would refund, they just never actually did it. But because they said they would, the CC co wouldn't get involved. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

Ok thanks for that.
Luckily (!) I work in the legal profession and so will not hesitate to use the Small Claims route if they start playing silly !!!!!!s. I will give them a fortnight to deal and take it from there.
Thanks for taking the time to repond.0
