ESA: Anyone understand it

I'm currently receiving DLA Higher mobility lower care
I have a undiagnosed neuro condition likely to be MS
I do not think I can keep working much longer
I do have a good pension scheme but it is up to them if I get awarded my full pension or a partial pension if I have to leave because of ill health. The partial pension will not cover my basic expenses. So I've been thinking I will need to sell my flat and move out of the city where I live
This is unlikely to happen before the new ESA comes into effect. So I'm wondering if my understanding of the ESA is correct. As I understand it, there are two types of ESA
Contribution-based about £60 a week, and this is not means tested, so I could claim this whatever income I have from other sources as long as I passed the physical (or failed it)
Income-based which has a basic rate and then all sorts of add ons depending on circumstances, I might be able to claim this on my partial pension, if it is under the income allowance.
Can anyone tell me if my understanding is correct?
Thank you
Lindsay

From what you have said it is likely you will qualify for the contribution based ESA.
