I WANNA.....buy kitchen floor and wall tiles + underfloor heating

Attempting to shave some corners off my spiraling DIY costs

I have explored the Tile shops in Reading and the Tiles I like are £45 a metre - which seems to be the going rate in highstreet shops.

Any tips for getting them cheaper - my fitter reckons thats very expensive.

For the floor I'm looking for rustic style tiles - ones that are different sizes in browns and greys.

For walls looking for matching colours but small square tiles

If I can find it cheap I would also like underfloor heating but budget may not allow!

Whenever I find a tile I like, the name of it seems to be specific to the shop that sells it so an internet search finds nothing.

Tips appreciated!

ps I need about 18m2 floor and 8m2 wall (from memory!)

    Hello da_murphster

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. • Hi - I am getting my tiles from here
    http://www.tilechoice.co.uk/

They have a great range of different sizes not found in the local DIY sheds and cheaper than Topps tiles. You have to pay for samples - I got about 7 tiles - some very large 50 x 50 for about £15. But I think that you get the price of the samples off if you order.

Delivery is either £20 or £25 depending where you live so budget that in. If the RRPs are to be believed then there is quite a saving to be had.

Alternatively try Wickes - again you have to pay for samples but this will be refunded on return. Free delivery on orders over £45 and save £10 on online orders if you write a review of one of their products.

    Hope this helps
  • I have just bought some slate and natural stone from https://www.mrs-stone-store.co.uk. There prices are great, and the quality is excellent.

Have you been in to Caversham TIles? They are just off the Henley Road and have some good stuff at decent prices. Speak to Andy if he is there, very helpful.

    Good luck
  • I have been into Caversham Tiles - some really nice stuff but not cheap.

I will go back there to see if they can 'beat the deal' as they were very helpful, did not charge for samples etc.

I like using local stores but money is tight so priority is saving £££
