Housing Benefit whilst Self Employed

Hi

I need some advise.

My husband has been made redundant, as from next week, to which we are going to need to initially claim housing benefit.
We live in a council house and have 2 children.

He plans to start his own business as from beginning of November.

As the business is starting from the ground, we are worried he wont make any money in the first few months as he will be building the business.

Does anyone know how much he can earn self employed before our housing benefit will stop.

Also is he allowed to sign on if self employed but not earning anything.

If anyone could offer any advice to this it really would be much appreciated.

Lisa.
