  • B+B will just go the way of Northern Rock, nationalised then merged with NR.

Thanks, wonder what Monday will bring forth!

What is certain is that we are all going to die.

............. please go away and worry about that.
That doesn't worry me - I have a water-tight plan to spend all my money before I die; if I fail, I'll neither know or care any more

Of course, the best laid plans, and all that...
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...

Work, crap in the papers, some weather and a beer to wind it all down ;)

(sorry, seriously, Monday will be interesting, one way or another but I doubt it'll be the end of the world. I hope it's something good.)

  • If this is referring ot my post...I was not scaremongering, just pointing out that to say it /is/ going to be nationalised is not a fact. To say it will be nationalisd could be read as you meaning that the government had made a statement to that effect. It hasn't. It could contiue to limp along for quite a while, it could be taken over by another bank, it could be nationalised. [Interesting that in this post you say "after B&B is taken over." I thought you said 8 minutes before that it was going to be nationalised....]

I think you'll see on the other posts I've made I'm very clear that the idea that it will be allowed to go bust is extremely remote, and if we ever got to a point where a retail bank is allowed to go bust we'll be in much much deeper trouble to really care any longer...

I think you're right Ealingsaver - have weighed up state of mind and will attempt to withdraw savings tomorrow morning at start of biz. Although I fear it might be too late .... Thanks to all's advice.
  • Are you leaving your money there or taking it out? want to think I`ll still have money in another few weeks!

You can't be serious. Since it's been nationalised your money is safer in B&B than any other bank. The level of ignorance on these boards is truly staggering at times.

  • Sorry for my ignorance... but that's why I enter the forum... don't really think anyone's been scaremongering, but because I have my money with BBI based in Isle of Man, the compensation scheme that is under is not much good for me - I stand to lose 15,000GBP. I have also been reading news articles as they come in, every one says don't be worried as you will be covered by comp scheme, which suggests that the need for the scheme is a possibility - I won't be saved by the scheme under Isle of Man law. Reply to Katies' mum - am gonna try and take the whole lot out.
  • !!!!!!, the government has guaranteed ALL B&B savers money, forget about the £35K limit thing, that was nonsense talk anyway.

I give up, you'll never convince some people. I reckon some people actually enjoy getting in a needless panic.

Well good luck with it, go ahead and panic. I hope there's pictures on the news tomorrow morning of you queuing outside your local B+B branch. So I can have a good laugh. :D
