Possible damp?

I have been looking at a ground floor appartment with a basement room and am worried about damp. The current tenant says he regularly uses a dehymidifyier, though I could see no obvious signs of damp nor did the room smell.
Should I be worried and what other signs should I look for? I have yet to have a survey done - would this be highlighted if it were an issue?
sorry for all the questions it's just I have not had any problems before as I bought a new build.

how much does his dehumidifier cost him to run?0

To be honest I don't know - but he didn;t have it on when we were looking at the place so I don't know how often is often if you get what I mean. The room has a gas radiator and 3 vents to outside. I wonder if he was being precautious due to having his PC equipment down there?0

If he has to use a dehumidifier, I'd walk away tbh. Without the dehumidifier, it will suffer with damp. Basement rooms are the one thing I will always steer clear of - even tanked properly, you just can't guarantee it will be dry and to remedy will cost a fortune.
Is there also an adequate escape route other than the stairs down from the house? (shudders)Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
