Housing Benefit chasing me for money I don't owe

Basically HB keep hounding me for benefit they supposedly paid after I ended my claim, but the thing is they owe me money for the month prior to the end of the claim. I have spoken to them 6 times about this, and every time they agree that I am in the right, and they will get the cheque out to me right away. Of course, the cheque never appears, just more demands for money I supposedy owe them!

What the heck can I do here?! They have owed me this money for 3 months now and the letters are getting more and more threatening (court action, etc)

About the money they say you don't owe but continue to pursue, speak to a manager at your LA benefits office and also get on to your local councillor as they can usually get things moving

With regard to the money they owe you you have every right to send them a 'letter before action' and threaten them with court if they don't pay you. If you're on certain benefits or a low income you'll be exempt from the court fee.
